Mary Catherine has more than a decade of experience representing professional liability insurers in connection with coverage issues and disputes, and she has particular experience with directors and officers, financial institution, investment advisor, lawyers, employment practices, and media liability policies. She serves as monitoring and coverage counsel and advises insurers on coverage issues and underlying exposures in connection with complex claims, including matters involving securities litigation, government investigations, and legal malpractice claims. She also represents insurers in coverage and bad faith litigation, including motions practice, discovery, and briefing that addresses a variety of procedural and substantive issues.
Mary Catherine served as a Senior Assistant Counsel in the U.S. Department of Commerce Office of Inspector General (Commerce OIG) for over eight years prior to joining LRD. In that role, she provided legal advice in connection with audits and investigations of Department of Commerce programs, whistleblower complaints, and a variety of issues related to the management of Commerce OIG, including employee relations, appropriations law, and the Freedom of Information Act. She also acted as a deputy ethics official and provided advice to employees regarding conflict-of-interest laws and federal ethics regulations. Mary Catherine received awards from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Commerce OIG, and the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency.
Mary Catherine lives in Prairie Village, Kansas. She current volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) with Jackson County (Missouri) CASA.
